Maybach Saloon for Spanish King Juan Carlos I features specially crafted elements by Patrick Mavros

Spanish King Juan Carlos I took delivery of a very special Maybach at the Laureus World Sports Award in Barcelona. The keys for the "Cote d'Azur" blue luxury Saloon were handed over by Dr Dieter Zetsche, the Chairman of the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler AG and Head of the Mercedes Car Group.
The royal Maybach Saloon has a light beige leather interior with brown burr walnut trim. This unique example from the Maybach Manufaktur in Sindelfingen has a special individualising feature: sterling silver ornaments created by Patrick Mavros adorn the shift lever for the five-speed automatic transmission as well as the covers of the front console and the ashtrays in the fond.

Events at Patrick Mavros London Store
The Hippo Lady
18 - 20 June 2006
When Karen and Jean Paollio learned that poachers were killing hippos near their home, they vowed to help the animals. Karen leased eight acres in Savé Valley, (Zimbabwe) where they watch over the last of the Turgwe Rivers 23 hippos. Karen Paolillo has spent more than 15 years protecting hippos in the Save Valley; she knows each hippos temperament, social status, family history and grudges.
Karen, who is a great friend of Patricks, will be coming over to London in June. She is going to spend 3 days at the Flagship store, from June 20th. Karen will be giving talks and evening functions telling of her incredible experiences with these amazing animals. She undoubtedly knows more about these extraordinary animals than anyone else on this planet.

Mavros flag at the North Pole!

Dugald Macdonald, Patricks brother-in-law, led the first South African team to successfully take part in the 580km Polar Race.
The South African Ikey Icemen team of Dugald Macdonald, Peter Berning and Ted Adam completed the Polar Race from Resolute Bay to the 1996 certified position of the Magnetic North Pole, and in so doing entered their country's history books by becoming the first South African team to walk to the Pole.
The team was the inspiration of former Springbok Dugald Macdonald who has already rowed the Atlantic Ocean. After his historic journey he recounted many tales of the Arctic blizzards and frost bite. As a wildlife enthusiast he also told us of his encounters with magnificent, endangered Polar bears. Uncle Dugs hoisted the Mavros flag high in their honour!

Zozos come to London
The adorable new Zozo Collection has been received with an overwhelming enthusiasm by all that have been to see them. The little fat-bummed elephant sculptures are represented right across the spectrum, from the dancing Zozo Earrings that hang and dangle in harmony to the Push-Me-Pull-You Zozo Cufflinks, the bracelet and necklace. In fact there has never been a jewellery range more eagerly sought-after since Patrick carved his very first pair of earrings for his bride to be.
The freestanding Zozo elephant sculptures have an attractive, tactile quality that invites you to pick them up and fondle them. The little elephants come in a family of eight, starting with the Baby Zozo all the way up to No.1 Big Boss Zozo.

Patrick Mavros at the Venatoria Expo 2006, Spain

Alexander Mavros and Patrick Jnr put on a sparkling show in Madrid at the annual Venatoria Expo. Following on from the Royal Command Exhibition last year, many of our new Spanish friends and customers visited the exhibition.

Patrick Mavros in the news...

2006 has so far seen Patrick Mavros attracting more attention from the media. Here are some recent press highlights -
Patrick Mavros enjoyed a three page profile in London society magazine The Hill in their December 2005 issue. Here is an excerpt from this glowing piece. It takes an adventurous man to bring a troop of Zulu drummers to the Fulham Road for a Christmas party. The man who hatched this plan... is Patrick Mavros, a Zimbabwean silversmith whose flagship store on the Fulham Road is a wonderland of intricate silver sculptures, jewellery, and various objets dart
on every surface lies a work of elaborate beauty.
Patrick Mavros' new Zozo range of elephants was featured in the very widely read 'art directions' pages of Sotheby Preview Magazine (January/February issue). This essentially represents a heads up for all the big swingers in the art world. Sotheby's is commonly thought of as the foremost fine arts auction house in the world and so Patrick Mavros feels very honored that his work was featured in their magazine.
Happily we also appeared twice in one edition of the Orient Express Magazine which not only put our glistening silver Monkey Lamp on their lead product page but also covered the Patrick Mavros exhibition that was held at the Ritz in Madrid last year. As some of you may remember, for the first time in his reign, His Majesty King Juan Carlos II of Spain invited an artist by Royal Order to hold an exhibition in Madrid. This great honor was bestowed upon Mavros and illuminated the prestige and level of recognition that his work commands.
The Field decided to include our Crocodile belt and buckle as the lead product in their 'new in the field' page - we are grateful that we have become a regular on the pages of The Field, a country magazine loved by many in the UK.
On a romantic note we were delighted to see our heart-shaped hippo key ring and bracelet recommended by Ok Magazine, the most widely read weekly in the UK, as the his-and-hers Valentine's day gift of choice for the legendary Liverpool FC midfielder Harry Kewell and his lady Sheree Murphy. The magazine also reminded us that hippos are renowned for being animals of love.
What do Triumph motorcycles and Patrick Mavros have in common apart from the fact that they are both associated with heartthrob adventurers? They both had products selected for The Times Magazine's widely read 'Top Gear'. The Saturday column, compiled by the famous mens style eye Simon Hills, details the 'must-haves' for any guy who wants to not just talk the talk but also walk the walk. What better way of demonstrating ones hip credentials than sporting a legendary Patrick Mavros 'Zim' Bangle - we agree!
