One of the largest cobras on the African continent, the Egyptian cobra can grow to lengths of 9.5ft. If threatened, it will raise its body up to half a meter off the ground and spread the wide, intimidating hood that it is synonymous with. If this fails to deter its aggressor, the cobra will strike out, offering a highly potent cocktail of neurotoxic and cytotoxic venom administered through its fangs.
Patrick Jnr’s fascination with snakes started at an early age, and he has caught and photographed them for over two decades. There was no one better suited to creating the anatomically perfect, sterling silver Egyptian Cobra pair.
The cobra pair took over six months to design and sculpt. Drawing from a wealth of personal photographs and experiences, a library of scientific books and diagrams, and numerous visits to Zimbabwe’s top herpetologists, Patrick Jnr has created one of the most lifelike pieces to come out of the Patrick Mavros workshop. Set with black onyx eyes, the Cobras come to life.
