BEADED BY THE OCEAN
Dear Friends,
We went into isolation on the east coast of Mauritius on March 19th. Between us and Australia, there is nothing but the expanse of the Indian Ocean for over 7,000 kilometers.
Planning ahead for the long stay at home, we brought my bead collection and our tiny charms of sea creatures and shells from the atelier.
Inspiration creativity and craft have merged with the rhythm of time
Beadwork is the artform that I have pursued since childhood. My first project was drilling seashells found on the Atlantic coast. I have been making jewellery ever since.
Beadwork is the artform that I have pursued since childhood. My first project was drilling seashells found on the Atlantic coast. I have been making jewellery ever since.
During this time in isolation my inspiration has come from the healing powers of the Indian ocean.
I have been making these beaded necklaces with strands of beautifully hand knotted turquoise, chrysoprase and pearls finished with our precious little sea turtle, starfish, cowrie shell and sea urchins.
It has brought me a lot of tranquility to create these pieces over the last few weeks and I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
With my warm regards,
