Chameleon & Fly Silver Miniature Figurine on base (small)

Every healthy habitat has chameleons. As youngsters, the Mavros boys would have great fun with these fascinating creatures whenever one was found in the garden. Chameleons cannot move fast and when threatened, they bravely stand their ground, puffed up and hissing furiously, showing a toothless pink mouth. They are easy to capture and it would usually take an absorbing afternoon to study them as they would change colour and pretend to be a leaf swaying in the breeze and move their dry ink-dotted eyes in all directions. Sometimes they would feed them grasshoppers and moths. Many African clans have a superstitious horror of chameleons. They are associated with death in the old legends that tell of the time of creation when the chameleon, by being too slow, brought mortality to humankind.
